| Seven Steps to Excellent Brewed Coffee |
- Coffee - start with top-quality coffees from a source whose standards you trust. Evaluate the origin of the bean, the roast, the blend and the coffee's freshness to make a selection most suitable for your taste and the occaion.
- Freshness - Always use fresh coffee. Store in a cool, dry place. Ground coffee ages rapidly, so by no more than one week's wrh at a time. For maximum freshness, buy whole beans and grind them just prior to brewing.
- Water - The better the water, the better the brewed coffee. Fresh, cold tap water or bottled water is best.
- Formula - Be sure to use the proper ratio: One tablespoon of freshly ground coffee to each cup is best.
- Temperature - Heat fresh, cold water to 200F preferably in an insulated server.
- Grind - Use the grind designed for your coffee maker. Matching the grind to the brewing system and brewing time will result in better coffee.
- Equipment - The cleaner the equipment, the better the taste. Always clean your coffee maker, filter devices and pots thoroughly after each use.
